This is the Brand
INDICATIONS: Tamiflu ® Capsules are indicated for the treatment of influenza in adults and children 6 months of age ³.
TAMIFLU ® Capsules are indicated for the prevention of influenza in adults and children ≥ 1 year of age.
Properties and effects:
Mechanism of action: Oseltamivir phosphate is a prodrug oseltamivir carboxylate, a potent selective inhibitor of the neuraminidase of influenza virus A and B. Viral neuraminidase is important for virus penetration in uninfected cells and for the release of newly formed virus particles in infected cells and subsequent dissemination of the virus in the body.
The oseltamivir carboxylate inhibits neuraminidase of influenza virus types A and B. The concentrations of oseltamivir carboxylate necessary to inhibit by 50% the enzymatic activity (IC50) are in the nanomolar range. In vitro, oseltamivir carboxylate inhibits virus infection and replication of influenza, in vivo, inhibits the replication and pathogenicity of influenza viruses.
Effectiveness: The clinical efficacy of TAMIFLU ® has been demonstrated in human experimental infection studies and phase III studies in naturally acquired influenza.
