Tetracycline 500mg 20 Caps, Tetracicina

DESCRIPTION: Tetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic semisynthetic broad-spectrum, indicated for the treatment of infections caused by organisms sensitive to tetracycline.

It acts through inhibition of protein biosynthesis. At the molecular level, tetracyclines inhibit transcription of the genetic message by preventing the binding of aminoacyl-RNA transport (including the initiation, ie, formyl-methionine-RNA-transporter). Its antibiotic action is exerted on 70S and 80S ribosomes, in addition to joining the magnesium and calcium forms complexes that inhibit bacterial protein forming enzymes.

INDICATIONS: Tetrex ® (tetracycline) is highly effective in the treatment of infections caused by Borrelia recurrentis (relapsing fever); Calymmatobacterium granulomatis (granuloma inguinale); Chlamydia sp (psittacosis, lymphogranuloma venereum, trachoma, inclusion conjunctivitis, pelvic inflammatory syndrome chronic), Francisella tularensis (tularemia), Haemophilus ducreyi (chancroid), Leptospira (meningitis, jaundice), Mycoplasma pneumoniae (NGU), Pseudomonas pseudomallei mallei and Rickettsia (epidemic typhus, Q fever, spotted fever Rocky Mountains)Vibrio sp (cholera), Bordetella pertussis (whooping cough), Bartonella bacilliformis, Campylobacter fetus, jejuni, Pasteurella multocida, Spirillum minor (rat-bite fever), Streptobacillus moniliformis (bite fever). It is also highly effective alone or in combination with streptomycin in the treatment of infections due to Brucella sp (brucellosis) and Yersinia pestis (bubonic plague) and Propionibacterium acnes (acne vulgaris). Other susceptible organisms include Actinomyces isrealii, Bacillus anthracis (pneumonia), Clostridium species (gas gangrene, tetanus), Entamoeba histolytica (bacterial dysentery), Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Treponema pallidum and pertenue (syphilis and yaws).

Contraindications: Known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. Renal or hepatic impairment, hemorragíparos states, albuminuria, hematuria, gastritis, and in patients younger than 8 years, pregnant and lactating women.

Children over 8 years: 25 to 50 mg / kg / day in four equal doses. The maximum dose should not exceed the recommended dose for adults.

Tetrex ® should be administered one hour before or 2 hours after meals.

Therapy should be continued until three days after the characteristic symptoms of the infection have disappeared.

For children over 8 years of age: The usual dose is 25 to 50 mg / kg / day in 4 equal doses.

In patients with renal insufficiency the total dose should be decreased by reducing the recommended dose or extending the interval between doses.
